Stitching Dreams: The Artistry & Magic of Embroidery Hoop Designs by Mufeeda Afsal

Hi, it's me Mufeeda, hailing from the small town 'Chaliyam' in Kozhikode. I got married while I was pursuing my graduation in BA Politics. Soon after my studies, I had relocated to Chhattisgarh with my husband. I tried a lot of ideas, designing clothes and making dresses, as I had a lot of free time after my daily routines. I loved spending my time on designing clothes. My husband is really supportive, and he encouraged me to focus on my passion and made me realise that I have a great future in it. That moment I decided to learn more about designing. As my daughter cut her 3^rd birthday cake, I returned to my hometown and decided to pursue Fashion Designing course. I started my hunt for a good fashion institute nearby my locatity and I found Waves Institute of Fashion Designing. After completing my 1 year Diploma in Fashion Designing in 2017-18, I started to do embroidery work. Initially I started stitching dresses for myself and my daughter. Later I started getting few orders from my family members, close friends and neighbors. One month later, I joined a Boutique in Calicut which gave me an exposure to the fashion industry.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, one of my cousins asked me to join her online business. She knew the right business tactics to sell products online and wanted me to start making masks for different occasions like wedding etc. We received more than 100 orders from different places in Kerala and outside. One of my neighbors was really impressed with my embroidery work, and she wanted a customized one for herself on an embroidery hoop. That was my first order of a Hoop Art, and she really appreciated my art. Currently I am getting lot of orders through my instagram page as I often upload my works.
